Founded in 1954, Light & Life was birthed to share the gospel of Jesus with Long Beach and the world.

Since 1991 we have been known as, "THE PEOPLE LOVING PLACE".

OUR MISSION: LLCF will REACH unchurched people, TEACH believers to love Jesus fully, MEND broken lives, SEND disciples into ministry.

Our 6 Core Values: (What makes us who we are)

1. Passion –

We passionately love God and His Word. We demonstrate the love through a priority on worship, prayer and serving others. We pursue spiritual habits of devotion to Christ.

2. Power –

We believe in the Spirit-empowered life and daily seek His filling. We practice spiritual warfare and believe in God doing daily miracle. We embrace all the gifts of the Spirit found in the New Testament.

3. Transformation –

We believe in the transformation of our character and actions that we are becoming more like Jesus, a holy people. We stress the daily application of the Bible. We believe for God's inner healing and deliverance from destructive habits and demonic oppression.

4. Community –

We prioritize relationships...living in community as believers. We are intentionally a MULTI-ETHNIC church that emphasises friendships that empower us to grow. We are diverse economically, ethnically, and generationally.

5. Missional –

We are an externally focused church, meaning we exist to serve others, not to serve ourselves. We are kingdom-minded, working with other Bible-believing churches to do God's word in our area. We prioritize serving the poor with the Good News and with good deeds both in our neighborhood and around the GLOBE!

6. Creativity –

We believe every individual was created with a UNIQUE DESTINY. We help people discover the created design - their strengths and their spiritual gifts. We embrace the ARTS and use them as tools of worship and mission. Creativity is highly valued.

Leadership

Lead Pastors -Dr. Larry Walkemeyer and Pastor Deb Walkemeyer have led Light & Life Christian Fellowship since 1991. Starting with a handful of committed "white folks" the church has grown into a large multi-ethnic, urban church. Larry's 30 years in ministry have included youth ministries, conference speaking, para-church leadership, radio ministry, missions work, pastoral mentoring, and over 15 national church plant projects, as well as starting church networks in the Philippines, Ethiopia and Indonesia. Larry is the co-author of "15 Characteristics of Effective Pastors". Azusa Pacific University named Larry one of the most influential students over its one hundred year history and recently inducted him into their Hall of Fame. Larry is a frequent speaker to ministry leaders and has started a non-profit organization to assist kingdom work in urban and international places of need.

The Pastoral Staff sets the vision, values, and ministry priorities of the church. They are led by Pastor Larry in his role of being the Lead Pastor. Currently our Pastoral Staff is...Pastor Larry Walkemeyer - Lead Pastor, Pastor Vern Burgess - Staff Pastor, Pastor Deb Walkemeyer - Associate Pastor.

Ministry Staff Leaders are those who oversee major areas of ministry at LLCF.

Currently our Ministry Staff Leaders are: Sarah Tatupu - Student Ministry (Fusion), Calvin Tatupu - I.C. Kidz Minister, Liz Tate - Children's Minister, Diane Chisum - Director of Pre-School Ministries, Kristy Hinds - Director of Group Life and young adult ministries, Richard Martinez - Pastor of Norte (Hispanic Ministry), Brian and Laura Warth - Chapel of Change church plant.

Ministry Staff oversee ministry, administrative, and organizational areas.

Craig and Mary Durst- Worship Ministers, Sean Fenner - Assistant Minister, Polly Baker - Ministries Assistant, Pam Spence - Front Office Assistant, Stephanie Escobar - Front Office Assistant, Steve Moore - Financial Controller, Tai Ciago- Choir Director and Worship Leader, Laurence Winrow- Maintenance, Dan and Gay Zambrano - Directors of 242 (Bible Study Ministry).

Leadership Council is a multi-ethnic group of ten people who are elected from the membership at our annual membership meeting. This Council sets the budget and oversees the finances, property, and policies of the church. They assist Pastor Larry in his role of leadership including confirming his major staff hires.

We are a Bible-believing, Jesus exalting, Gospel-centric, Kingdom-minded church that works with many other churches in our city to expand the kingdom of God.

We are also happily affliated with a Bible-believing family of churches called FREE METHODIST (not to be confused with United Methodist). To find out more about the family we belong to visit: fmcusa.org

These are the most important truths that we believe at LLCF:

WE BELIEVE in one God, who is eternal, all-powerful, and absolutely Holy; who has revealed Himself to man as existing in three distinguishable expressions of His essential being: The Father, Jesus Christ the Son, and the Holy Spirit.

(Matthew 28:19; 2 Corinthians 13:14; and John 14:15-17).

WE BELIEVE that the Bible, composed of the Old and New Testaments (the accepted canon of Holy Scripture) is God’s eternal, inspired, infallible Word in its entirety; and is the supreme standard and final authority for all conduct, faith, and doctrine.

(2 Timothy 3:16-17; 1 Corinthians 2:13; 2 Peter 1:19-21).
