Light & Life Christian Fellowship

Church Planting

In 1999 the Lord spoke to Pastor Larry and Deb and our leaders to become "A River Church".  A Lake Church sees how many people it can get around one person at one place...it collects people rather than sending them. God had put it in our hearts to "FLOW"...to SEND people to start new churches and ministries.

Since then we have done 18 church planting projects locally and nationally (as well 25 churches internationally). We have sent many staff, leaders, givers, and money to start new works. Sometimes these groups are small, sometimes we have sent as many as 15% of our church out the door to start a new work. It's not easy being a RIVER church but we feel called to keep SENDING people out. Today the kingdom is greatly expanded by this generous model of "doing church". It's about Jesus and the Kingdom, not about the budget, buildings or bodies at our local church.

Children's Ministry

At LLCF children are the church of today and the leaders of tomorrow! Therefore, we give our best to minister to our children effectively.

Liz Tate, our children's minister who knows how to help children have fun, feel loved, and learn lots. Her team of trained volunteers help your child feel comfortable as they become disciples who follow Jesus in their age appropriate manner. During our worship celebrations children spend their time at our wonderful CHILDREN'S CENTER worshipping, praying for each other, doing arts and crafts, learning Bible lessons, and playing games.  Infants and Toddlers have a crystal clean and safe environment to experience God's love for them in our Nursery. Diane Chisum, our nursery director focuses on the needs of preschooled children.  Our nursery is a place where the littlest ones learn about Jesus.

The first two minutes of a person's visit to a new church are the most critical. We strive for excellence at helping people feel loved, valued, and comfortable.

First Touch Teams include:
Greeters- a friendly greeting, a handshake, a smile, and a Sunday bulletin.
Ushers - helping people find seats and providing a feeling of security
Altar Response Team - praying for people who respond to the message.

Missions

Global Missions is a priorty based on Acts 1:8:

But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit comes on you; and you will be my witnesses in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the ends of the earth. Acts 1:8

We actively start, empower, encourage, and give spiritual leadership to churches in the Philippines, Ethiopia, Indonesia and Mexico. Yearly short term missions teams visit these places. We have active schools in Ethiopia and Kalimantan, Indonesia. We are serving the poorest of the poor.

Australia

Kristen Truby - Missionary with YWAM

"Through my heart for the Indigenous of Australia, God called me to work with YWAM Perth that has now developed into pioneering a women’s transition home in Perth. The women’s transition home will provide a place for women to receive physical, emotional and spiritual support in a safe and family oriented environment. As I’m pioneering this ministry and working with YWAM Perth, God has particularly called me to work with a ministry in Perth called Priceless. Priceless is a ministry committed to bringing awareness and strategies to communities and individuals “at risk” of human slavery. God is justice, therefore we seek to represent this by working toward the prevention, release and care of those enslaved both locally and internationally, knowing God is the ONE who FULLY rescues and restores. THROUGH THIS ENTIRE ENDEAVOUR MY HEART IS TO SERVE GOD AS I WORK WITH THE HURTING, ESPECIALLY WHERE THAT RELATES TO WOMEN AND CHILDREN.

If you would like to know more information about my ministry please email me at This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it. ."

Currently Kristen is working alongside Trio (an evangelistic discipleship ministry focusing on leading those in distress, in depth or discontent to Christ) as well as doing prison ministry sharing the gospel with youth ages 10-18 that are at the detention center. In all her ministry her primary focus is on women in need including homeless, prostitutes, families in crisis, among others.

Indonesia

On the island of Kalimantan (Borneo) Pastor Lody DeRider partnered with two nationalists Lily & Parman to start an elementary, middle school, orphanage, and church in the middle of the jungle.

Pastor Lody brought this ministry to Light & Life in 2009 and now we are partnering with that work. Twice, Pastor Larry has traveled there with Pastor Lody to help bring direction for future ministries.

In 2012 a huge building at City of Praise Indonesia was dedicated to house students and orphans and currently a High School is being built. We are also looking for options to expand our network there through church planting.

In 2012 a team traveled to City of Praise and returned with amazing stories! Below is an excerpt from Kristy Hinds:

I was in Indonesia.  Particularly on the Island of West Kalimantan in a remote portion of the jungle called Tikalong.  My friends and I had traveled to a school called City of Praise.  First established as an orphanage.  Now this thriving academy was home to many children in a remote area without roads or communication.  Here children were learning geography, science, math, engineering, language, and about Jesus.  It’s amazing what you can discover when you look past what you know and dream bigger than you thought possible. The children and staff at this lovely mission changed my life forever.

Philippines

In the Bicol region of the Philippines, Ralph & Joji Silo, started a group of churches called “Jesus Our Banner” (JOB) Ministries before moving to the U.S. about 13 years ago. As members of Light & Life, they have begun a partnership between JOB churches and Light & Life.

Through frequent trips to the Philippines, Light 7 Life has helped in planting several more JOB churches with the oversight of Ralph, Joji, and Pastor Larry. Along with church planting, there is also orphan care, food distribution, and training of pastors and leaders happening in the Philippines on a regular basis.

In 2007, there were only four existing churches in Camarines Sur, Bicol, Philippines under Jesus Our Banner Ministry. That same year LLCF Philippine team handled the first youth camp. In 2008, the LLCF Philippine Mission team (Pastor Larry, Mason Johnson, and Craig Matheny) help planted the first church in Garchitorena town. From that year to 2012, four more churches were planted. At present there are 10 churches. We have a vision we called the 20/20 Vision; the 20/20 Vision is a goal to plant 20 churches by the year 2020. We are asking your prayers and support to help plant 10 more churches and to train and equip more pastors by 2020.

Etiopia

In 2004 Light & Life began a relationship with the Emmanuel Light & Life churches in Ethiopia. Our church focuses specifically on the Jimma and Betta Genet areas and through several mission trips and working with national leaders in Ethiopia, we have helped to build a school and several churches. Also with our assistance, a network of 12 churches has been established in these areas as well.

Recently a church plant of Light & Life called Storehouse Church in Philadelphia (Pastor JR Rushik) has begun partnering with us and the nationals in Ethiopia to further ministry there. In 2009, Free Methodist World Missions also appointed U.S. Missionaries Tim and Jervaun Trier and family in Ethiopia as full-time missionaries as well.
