A "change up" is a pitch in baseball. It appears to be one kind of pitch but in reality is something different and it strikes out the opponent.
Good Friday was God's pitch to the devil. He thought he was hitting a home run but he swung too early. Good Friday looked like a pitch that the devil was going to hit out of the park....but Sunday was coming. Sunday would change everything. The Resurrection would "change up" bad Friday to Good Friday.
The Cross looks like a place of death and defeat to the world. But actually it is a place of life and victory. It has the power to "change up" the hardest life.
Yesterday I was passing out Easter Invites in a tough part of N. Long Beach and an ex-con who was recently saved at our church, saw me. With a big grin he said, "Pastor! What's up?". I told him and he took a flier to pass on to someone else. But just then one of his former cellmates came up. His cellmate started friendly swearing at his friend. And our guy invites me to Easter Services...the other guy says,"#*#@#-* no way... you go to church...that's a change I gotta see for myself...I will be there Sunday!"
The Cross and the Empty Tomb can change anyone! It can "change up" our lives for the better! See you here for Good Friday at 7pm. Easter at 6am, 9, 10:30, Noon, 2pm.
