The Easter Joke

The Greek Orthodox church has a tradition of meeting the day after Easter. And what do they do? They tell jokes.

Instead of Saturday Night Live...it's Monday Morning Live! Now why would they do that? For one simple reason...they believe that at the resurrection of Jesus, God pulled the biggest joke ever on Satan!

Satan thought he had finished Jesus off, won the battle, defeated God's plan, taken Jesus hostage, doomed mortals to suffer in their sins for eternity. He thought he had tied Jesus to the railroad tracks and the train had run him over. But then like a Tulip Bulb that looks lifeless and gone...new life began to crack open the tomb until it blossomed forth into glorious life and beauty! Jesus had risen, never to die again.

This was not just a resuscitation it was a resurrection! What's the difference? Jesus raised people from the dead, so did Peter…but later in their lives they died for good. A real resurrection only happens when a person dies, lives again, and never dies again! So far only Jesus has been resurrected physically. But when the Lord returns all those who have died believing in Jesus will be resurrected to never die again!

He's alive and active in our church and the devil is defeated. The joke is on him forever!
