Herm Colvin
As a retired Teacher he devotes his time as a volunteer at L.B. Poly and other schools in the area. He makes every effort to connect with the Teachers and Students on a day to day basis to share, pray and to listen to them about their lives. He is well known by Teachers, Students and others for his FAITH in Christ in the Community. Also, he has this amazing connection with the Poly high football team, wrestlers, and many other things. Tough guys from gang-infested neighborhoods go to him for prayer.. Mary Louise Burgess Has a HUGE heart for the kids in the local schools in L.B.. I've been to 3 of the outreaches that she heads up at the different schools with the IC Kidz truck. She puts on a one-day free carnival for the school. She gets cool stuff donated for raffles and gets the teachers to get involved in serving the kids. She plays more of a cautious and supportive role (behind the scenes). After each carnival, teachers and the children leave with a BIG smile and a thanksgiving attitude and can't wait until the next carnival. Dan Lundmark His biggest concern and drive in life is to abolish poverty and injustice, to help people break the cycle of poverty, to help the widows, orphaned, and oppressed. Isaiah 1:16-17 is on the wall by his computer. This is an underlying motivation for him when he pursued his Economic Development MBA. His passion is with microfinance, aiding third world families to be successful.
Diana Glazewski
Diana is a faithful neighbor and friend. Throughout the years, she has ministered at convalescent homes, given multiple rides to friends who were out of a car, donates money to assist when needed. Diana constantly shares the love of Christ in very practical, tangible ways out in her neighborhood and beyond. Lamont Bonman When Lamont is not working his day job, he is facilitating large events called Komedy Slamm. This year, the purpose is to bring black and brown gangs together through a comedy event. He performs his comedy in prisons, ministers to the incarcerated population, and travels the United States to bring a message of hope through his story, using comedy as the tool. He also ministers faithfully to those in his apartment complex and at work in an inner city elementary school in Los Angeles.
Bryan LaneyI commend Bryan for his FAITHFULNESS for riding his bicycle most Saturday's to do a drive by prayer over the surrounding Community. I believe he rides 40 miles+ that is alot of territory to cover in prayer. His passion to intercede in the city for lives to be changed and saved for a better Community is very important.
Rebekah NegreteRebakah has used her platform for Mrs America to highlight the need for more foster homes. Rebekah has used this national honor to speak out for families to consider carrying for the marginalized children in our nation. Living this out in practical ways, Rebekah and Greg 2 years ago took in 2 sisters who needed a healthy foster home, and currently on track for adoption, making these 2 young girls their own. She also faithfully volunteers time doing sidewalk counseling with pregnant teens seeking abortions. Will and Yvonne Morton Together they put on comedy shows for hospitals, group homes, rehab places, etc. Will and Yvonne are active members of Halogen. Joe and Gloria Tittlefitz
Out of their loss and grief from losing their 4 month old infant girl to severe physical disabilities, Joe and Gloria chose to do something that would focus their pain into something good for others. They created the Faith Foundation, a non-profit that brings medical resourcing to parents with children who have physical challenges. They do the Faith Foundation mission apart from their regular day jobs. They have brought hope to many families in America and in Mexico and the Philippines as well
Kimberly Marsh Kimberly has worked in the community as an HIV/STD counselor and phlebotomist, testing at substance abuse treatment centers, the gay and lesbian center, as well as counseling people with problems (addicts, diseased people, etc), and volunteering with Serve the City. Kimberly lives out her faith and career in a mission-minded way through embracing and comforting those troubled by addiction and disease. Normita Taylor
Holds bible studies for her co-workers and neighbors who do not attend church anywhere and don't know anything about God at all. She is also taking care of a dying woman that needs the love of Jesus - in her "spare" time. She also owns property in the Phillipines and wants to build a church in the neighborhood where she grew up because they don't have a church there.
Chuck Loy Chuck faithfully volunteers at the Nesting Place. He spends many days a week encouraging the pregnant and unwed moms, as well as doing sidewalk counseling, saving unborn children.
Joan SimpsonAnother prime example of a servants heart. Joan has dedicated herself on Saturday's to reach out to the Convalescent home next door. I've witnessed most Saturday's during SWATT that she does it selflessly by herself with the help of the Holy Spirit.
Dave Duberowski
Dave has a big heart of love, using his gifts and strengths to help others. He has donated a lot of time helping with an orphanage in Mexico, teaching woodworking, making toys for children, helping with facility construction issues. Dave is also quick to lend a helping hand to neighbors and friends in need. Note: As of November 1, the voting period is over. Stay tuned for announcement of the results! |
