How did you come to LLCF? A long time ago in a galaxy far, far away (2003) I led a mission trip to Ensenada Mexico. I was set to be a part of a mission team headed for a different part of Mexico, but God’s providence switched me at the last minute to lead a trip to Ensenada in which a young Lindsey Walkemeyer was a part of the team. You may have recognized the name and, if so, please go to your fridge and get yourself a snack for a reward. Lindsey is, in fact, Larry’s daughter. Apparently, I did not scare her too bad, nor did I leave her with a bad taste, much like orange juice and toothpaste would. Rather, she gave her parents a nice report about her Ensenada leader. About 6 months later the LLCF youth pastor, Ronel, was getting ready to plant a church in Oahu, Hawaii. So the search began. Larry asked Lindsey about that weird, lip ring guy who led the Ensenada trip. Lindsey set up an appointment for Larry and me to meet and Walla!
What is your role at LLCF? I am the pastor of our evening service called Halogen. What is the best part about your role? There are many great aspects to being the pastor of Halogen, great people, witnessing the Holy Spirit move in powerful ways, being a part of furthering the Kingdom of God, my wife and I being invited to people’s houses for food and so on. I think one of the best things about being a pastor is the fact that I never wanted to be one before, and I am afraid of not doing well. However, where I am weak, the Lord is strong, so allowing the Holy Spirit to work in and through me is awesome. Fun Stuff If you were an animal, which one would you be? Why? Well, I would definitely not be a mule insofar as they are nothing more than half-ass. I would be a lion for several reasons. My wife has told me that I am called to lead God’s people and be a lion for the Kingdom, and I am a big fan of Aslan. What is your favorite ethnic food? Sushi What makes you laugh? Cheesy questionnaires such as this one! But I guess that’s more of a sarcastic laugh as opposed to a joyful one. My wife makes me laugh. Also: Chris Tucker. What is your favorite movie? That’s a tough question. As far as sagas go, Star Wars: Trilogy, Lord of the Rings. Single movies, there are too many to name. If you could be on any reality television show, which one would it be? First of all, I don’t even watch television so I am ignorant of most of the lame shows out there. Secondly, there is not much “reality” in reality shows from what I understand. I think instead of wanting to be on a reality show, I would want to be in a movie. I would like to play Judas Maccabeus. Maybe Mel Gibson will cast me for that one. |
